Irresistible Me Hair Extension Review

Last October, I went to the salon with no idea on what to do with my hair and before I knew it, I looked to the stylist and told her to chop it down to shoulder length, taking off about 10 inches of hair.  I loved having long hair, but after dipping in the ocean multiple times, getting my hair done for the wedding and traveling through Europe where the water was different, my hair was so far damaged and beyond repair.

I used to cut my hair to my jawline every year or two, but my hair is actually much more manageable when it’s long and I’ve missed it since chopping it off. I love how refreshing it is when it’s first cut, but I really longed to have the length back, so I was really excited to collaborate with Irresistible Me on their hair extensions.

The Website

The Irresistible Me website experience was actually really good.  There are good explanations of what the different types of extensions are, videos and what to expect with an order. You’ll also find a diagram that shows you the various lengths along the back.  What I think would be better about the website is if they didn’t require you to sign up as a member like a flash sale site would, just so you could get past the first page.

My Order & First Impressions

My hair is thick and close to being jet black, so I got the Royal Jet Black in 22″ weighing 200g. The hair arrived in a simple black box with a logo on it. Inside is a clear zip lock package with two pockets. The small pocket holds a 2-clip sample (with spare clips) to match against your own hair. The large pocket is sealed and clearly marked –  if the seal is opened, you cannot return it. Upon opening, I immediately felt how silky the hair was.  I took the double clip piece and put it in my hair and found it to be a good colour match, so I unsealed the large pocket with the rest of the hair.

All of the hair was really silky and thick. The hair extensions are 100% human remy hair that can be washed, styled and coloured. These extensions seemed to already have been brushed through really well so that there’d be no tangles.

What My Box Included

My box came with 10 wefts in total, which is more than enough:

2 x 1 clip wefts
5 x 2 clip wefts
2 x 3 clip wefts
1 x 4 clip weft

I loved you’d get a large weft of thick hair sewn together in 1, 2, 3 or 4 clips, so I can easily clip on a 4 piece and that’d cover a huge area on my head in little time. From my knowledge, most other companies only give you about 6 to 7 wefts. Irresistible Me includes 10 and I only used 7.

How I Used My Extensions

There were tons of tutorials on Irresistible Me and YouTube to help explain how to install the hair.  My approach was as follows:

1) Wash, blowdry and style with heat protection cream

2) Select hair extensions that will cover entire front to back of hair & open up all the clips

3) Brush through my own hair and Irresistible Me Hair

4) Tie up half of my hair into a half pony tail

5) Take the largest extension and clip it into the back of the head just below the hairline of your half ponytail

6) Take the pieces for the sides of the head and clip one to each side just below the half ponytail line

7) My hair is thick and unruly, so I let my hair down and then took up the top half to add an additional layer of extensions again starting from the back, then to the sides and letting my hair all down for the next step. Keep in mind that if you do this, any  additional styling will take you longer.

8) I plugged in a narrow hair straightener, sprayed my hair with a good heat protector, let it dry and curled all of the hair on my head together to help it look like it was all naturally my hair and got some loose beach waves.

Verdict

When I was brushing through the hair and curling it, there was maybe only a couple of strands that fell out, so I’m impressed.  My own hair though, is another story.

The hair is of high quality and it’s really soft.  The extensions never fell out for the 12 hours that I wore them while exploring on my trip to Las Vegas.  I sat by the pool, went hotel hopping and site-seeing and they stayed intact.  Typical of human hair, the curls stayed and loosened towards the end of the day.  If you want styled hair to last longer, just use product, but I typically don’t use much other than heat protection sprays or creams.

These last for 10 to 20 uses depending on how well you take care of them and since I actually love these, I’m inclined to wash and brush them, tie the wefts together and store them in the resealable package after each use.  Laying down can feel a little strange at first because you can feel the clips, but it doesn’t hurt.  They’re actually very easy to remove and only took me a few seconds for each one weft.  I’d wear these regularly, or even for an occasion. For someone who doesn’t want permanent extensions, these are an incredible option.
