The other day, I threw this pretty blue off-the-shoulder flowy dress on and made a trip down to my old neighbourhood in Venice, Los Angeles. It has this pretty laser cut detail and the beach was really the perfect place to wear it. I put on a strapless bikini underneath, threw on a pair of flats, tossed my beach essentials into my beach bag and went out the door. The bonus? It hardly got any wrinkles when I pulled it out of the dryer or out of the beach bag.
When I lived by the beach, I loved taking my new bike out for a ride. I went along the main strip or bike path, always heading northwest. I rarely frequented the same establishments, but at the end of the day I’d often park my bike by the Santa Monica Pier and Third Street Promenade and take a walk before heading home. Two months after living in the area, I finally decided to head in the other direction. I was so excited to discover a really small strip of boutiques, brunch spots and cafès, including the one of my favourites – Intelligentsia. I even finally came across this Venice sign.
This just reminded me of how amazing and unexpectedly easy it is to take a path that we’re familiar with, when some of the best things to experience is just around the corner.
