Walk into any store shortly after New Years Day and you’ll be surrounded with red and pink balloons, soft teddy bears, hearts, and pretty much anything that has anything to do with love. Valentine’s Day has always been such a celebrated holiday for couples and in the last few years, for women and for ourselves.
It’s not a holiday I anticipate or celebrate in a large way since I strongly believe in pampering yourself and doing special things regularly for your partner throughout the year. If there is one thing I truly love about Valentine’s Day, it’s all the great perks that surround it.
Whether or not you celebrate, you’ll appreciate Valentine’s Day in a whole new way. There are so many great deals you won’t want to miss!
If you’re single, married or dating someone, you can all take advantage of these incredible perks that pop up around the holidays. Today, I’m sharing 5 great ways you, your friends, family and anyone you know. If you also have champagne taste on a beer budget and believe in self-love and appreciate a great deal, share the love with others.
Below are 5 Great Ways to take Advantage of the Perks Surrounding Valentine’s Day
Pampering Items, Sleepwear & Lingerie
Bath bombs, body treatments, soft silk and cashmere pajamas often go on sale before and/or after Valentine’s Day. They’re fantastic items to purchase around the holiday and good for the entire year. Let’s be honest, a few extra of these can be kept and given weeks later as a nice surprise. Your partner will appreciate the sweet thought, especially since it’s gifted “just because he or she deserves it”. Or, if you’re single, for yourself because you are worth it!
Romantic Getaway Packages (Even if You’re Single)
Great romantic packages will pop up for the holiday and they often include bonuses like free champagne, maybe breakfast in bed, free breakfast, discount on spa services or additional perks you wouldn’t find featured throughout the year. This is a great time to take advantage, even if you’re single After all, who says you can’t share champagne and breakfast with a sister or best friend? If you happen to be travelling during this period, you’ll see local spots offer some wonderful packages. Often, you can get a gift card or just book within a set period. If you cannot, I recommend you calling or writing the hotel or management to see if they’d honor it later into the year. Most of the time, they’d be happy to oblige.
Special occasions often lead businesses to push some additional advertising so you might find events and activities you wouldn’t normally see, and because they’re often competing with other nearby business, there are usually some fantastic deals to be found. It’s the perfect time to indulge in a great deal and buy into something you might want to do later into the year. I recently saw a hot air balloon ride deal pop up that I’d never seen before. Also, a dinner, champagne package on a ferris wheel with a set course dinner. These are things I would’ve paid full price for, but now won’t have to, and some of these don’t expire for months. Win-win! If you have booked your trip to another country/state, you’ll find offers like these apply to those destinations as well. Definitely check out local deals during the holiday and you might find some added bonuses or deals you didn’t expect.
Gift cards are a great way to score a discount leading up to Valentine’s Day. You’ll find that a few of your favourite boutiques or stores that you frequent regularly will have things like buy $100 and get $25 bonus free. These are great deals to take advantage of, especially since they last a long period of time, sometimes forever with no expiry (but check with your store just incase).
Limited Edition Offerings & Special Releases
If you’re like me, you love items that feel extra special. Beauty products that are the holy grail of your beauty routine are perfect purchases during special holidays like Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day and Christmas. I adore special edition packages or bonus bundles available because I tend to run out of product every 2 to 4 months and always need replenishment on foundation, liners, lipsticks, moisturizers and so much more. The special holidays are a perfect time to indulge. Among my favourites are travel-sized beauty products and limited edition colors. You can see some of my CHANEL favourites from my last post here, here and here. For a limited time, you’ll get a free gift as well. This February, I also picked up a really cool graffiti phone case for my Google Pixel 2 phone which you can see on Instagram. Keep your eyes peeled for items that are beautiful, but only available for a limited period of time.
