We’re now only a week from Valentine’s Day and that means many of us are making plans with friends, family, girls, guys or loved ones. Whether you’re staying in or going out, dressing nice and dolling up is so important all year round. Before I get out the door my plan is to draw a long bath, before I put on my favourite fragrance, beauty products and dress. It’s all about making yourself feel extra special on this occasions and every single day! With a holiday celebrating love around the corner, there’s new make up products and specials everywhere you look, and of course, today I’m sharing a review of some new make up products, and a special limited edition bonus for all my readers from CHANEL.
NEW BEAUTY BAG PRODUCTS WITH CHANEL
For February, CHANEL released some new colors and limited edition products, so of course I was so thrilled to try them.
If you adore a great matte lipstick, the Rouge Allure Velvet Luminous Matte Lip Colour offers a beautiful bright true red in Rouge Feu. It’s hydrating, intensely rich, has long-wearing colour and and feels sumptuously soft. I wore this for more than 6 hours, and the Jojoba oil and shea butter used in its formula was truly hydrating. It’s highly pigmented, long lasting and feels great on the lips. After eating, I reapplied and continued on with my day. I recommend it for anyone who loves a true red with a matte finish. If you still love a true red with a luminous finish that isn’t matte, I recommend my favourite from How to Take Make Up from Day to Night Make Up Routine linked here. I’ve photographed the two swatches on my arm for comparison.
CHANEL also released some new 2-in-1 lip and cheek stains and I got my hands on two: Rouge Coco Lip Blush, Hydrating Lip and Cheek Sheer Colour in Teasing Pink and Burning Berry this February. Micro-bags are such a hot trend, but let’s be real, with phones getting larger and bags getting smaller they don’t fit very much in them. Trying a beauty item that doubles up as something else is ideal, especially if you travel and want to pack light as I do! My face is really sensitive to break outs, so I never use the applicator on both my lips and face. I only swatch the applicator on freshly clean hands and use my fingertips to apply on the lips before I wash, swatch and apply onto my cheeks. I still prefer powder blush, but if I’m truly pressed for space in my bag, this is much easier and it automatically gives your cheeks a dewy glow.
More often than not, I wear a pink or nude lipgloss. I’ve swatched two lip and cheek stains and the caramel gloss on my arm for comparison. In this blog post, I am wearing CHANEL Rouge Coco Gloss in Caramel lipgloss (middle swatch) and Teasing Pink lip and cheek tint (top swatch) on my cheeks.
Before heading out, I needed to put on a fresh coat of nail polish. I applied CHANEL Le Vernis, Longwear Nail Colour in Shantung. You really can’t go wrong with a few classic reds. My nails have gotten brittle over time, and since these are enriched with Bioceramics and Ceramides, it’s suppose to help strengthen and improve the quality of nails over time. That’s a huge bonus! Plus, a bold red is classic and perfect for every season.
Last year, I got into the habit of applying more hand creams and body moisturizers. I’ve used the CHANEL La Crème Main Hand Cream at least 3 times this last week. It’s hydrating and fast absorbing. The regenerating and brightening Iris Pallida is said to help protect the skin and diminish dark spots while softening and smoothing your skin. I don’t have any dark spots on my hands so I cannot speak about the effectiveness of this, but I enjoy the scent and my hands feel very soft after its been absorbed.
Finally, before I get dressed and ready to go, I spray one of my favourite fragrances on. Most recently, the CHANEL Gabrielle Chanel, Eau De Parfum Spray had become one of my all-time favourites. It’s the first new fragrance from Chanel in 15 years, and I was lucky enough to see the launch and test the perfume first hand in a pop-up shop in London during Fashion Week after I finished attending shows for the evening.
Olivier Polge crafted this Eau de Parfum as an imaginary flower — a radiant and sparkling, purely feminine Chanel blossom based on a bouquet of four white flowers: a rich, enveloping heart of exotic Jasmine shimmers with the fruity green notes of Ylang-Ylang, while fresh and sparkling Orange Blossom shines through, offering a glimpse of Grasse Tuberose captured at its finest.
When I first tried the fragrance, I fell in love with it. I am not a huge fan of musky or vanilla scents, so If you love mature, floral scents as I do, you will really enjoy this fragrance. I recommend going to your nearest CHANEL beauty counter to try it out yourself. I highly recommend seeing the campaign here. It’s artistic and beautifully done.
