One of nicest things about living in a hot climate is jumping right into the Spring/Summer trends. This Winter proved to showcase so many gorgeous colours and it’s definitely spilling over into the warm Spring season in Florida. We saw a lot of red, electric blue, ultraviolet purple, green, mustard yellow, pinks and reds. We are welcoming flowing fabrics, beautiful prints and seasonal changes. I don’t get to experience winter fashion trends for more than a week out of the year anymore (and believe me, being a born and bred Canadian I miss seeing snow outside the window and the scent of fresh wood being burnt while the fireplace is going), but I do enjoy playing with Spring & Summer trends early. This season, one of the trends that shows no sign of leaving is color blocking.
I’ve had an obsession with pink and red for quite some time (see Paris Fashion Week outfit in pink and red here). Pink and red is a romantic combination that strikes the line between uber feminine and bold. This dress really hugs the body, is low maintenance, easy to travel with and instantly makes you feel well put together. I’ve styled it with thigh boots here, but I’ve worn it with my flat pearl sandals and with Valentino heels (seen here) as well.
On a trip to Miami, I wore this during Lunar New Year for a few hours. The following week, Tom and I were driving downtown, we passed this pretty tree. It reminded me of the cherry blossoms in Kyoto during sakura season. We made a quick stop to admire the pretty blooms up close and continued onwards, but moments like those just remind me that sometimes you really need to stop and appreciate life and everything that is in front of you.
