I couldn’t believe the entire month had flown by so quickly. I was ending my fashion month experience in Paris, with none other than John Galliano. When I first started attending fashion events and runway shows, I would go to the bookstore and occasionally flip through fashion editorials and biography books. It was so long ago, but those few first memories that we each take for granted that are hidden in the back of our mind are the building blocks of things that light a fire inside of us. Then, as you pursue your passions, you’ll be reminded of why you do what you do. Continue Reading…
Paris Fashion Week SS18 Day 4
October 23, 2017My 3rd outfit, which happened to be Day 4 of fashion week was a snuggly one. I had been holding onto these beautiful velvety violet (also known as Prince Purple this season) platform shoes for 3 weeks and finally decided to wear them with a double set of stockings, vinyl skirt and a turtleneck. I was attending a number of smaller shows on this date and so warm and comfortable. Continue Reading…
Paris Fashion Week SS18 Day 2
October 16, 2017On Day 2 of viewing Paris Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2018 (PFW SS18) Collections, I went back to wearing bright colors. I originally stepped out in denim, but I am more of a trousers kind of girl. I love colorblocking pink and red, so I thought I’d take it a step further on Day 2. I really started off with the top, but when I found these amazing feather shoes, no doubt inspired by Prada, I had to have them. They’re over-the-top and feminine, which suits is my style. Paris Fashion Week SS18 Day 1
October 12, 2017I arrived in Paris with a mix of nervousness and excitement. It was my first time travelling to Paris alone, and in complete disbelief, for fashion week. In my prior visits to this beautiful city, the temperatures had been cool, and so I packed coats, blazers, jackets, hats and faux fur. Continue Reading…
Rahul Mishra Paris Fashion Week SS18 Collection
October 11, 2017Rahul Mishra encouraged us to widen our views and look beyond the small screens of technology to see what the world has to offer. Inspired by nature and his studies in physics, Mishra presented an incredibly colorful and vivid collection, like a rainbow after the rain or reflection through a diamond, each look in SS18 collection is as beautiful, if not more so, than the last. Rahul Mishra opened with a gown in vertical stripes and array of colors, which so vividly pop against the dark sheer fabric of the skirt. I was in awe as each look came down the runway. The work is so intricately done, even on the runway you really can’t help but run your eyes up and down each piece and appreciate every little detail. Mishra opened with this maxi dress above, but his collection progressed to include even more special hand-crafted details, including these stripes all sewn in individually – that’s right – it’s not printed on the fabric! You also see lots more embroidered detail and color throughout the collection. The flowers and animal details were all cut by hand, the stripes and chiffon dresses were also all hand done. The most elaborate dress with the rainbow bodice took approximately 2000 hours to complete. I fell in love with the prism pieces, and adore all the ruffles, scalloped details, sheer fabrics used in jackets, midi-skirts, maxi dresses and gorgeous separates. Continue Reading…
