That Travel Bug

August 18, 2016

New Travel AdventuresAre you a travel addict? A person who loves to explore?  I got bitten by the travel bug as a teen when I first took a 2 week trip to Japan and years later, the time I’ve spent on the road and out of country has continued to grow. The most magnificent thing about travelling, is that there is always something new you learn about yourself.

New Travel AdventuresNew Travel AdventuresNew Travel AdventuresNew Travel AdventuresNew Travel AdventuresNew Travel AdventuresNew Travel AdventuresTravelling shapes who we are. Time and time again, when I venture off to another country, I get re-inspired and my mind is filled with new ideas; I feel completely refreshed and get clarity on so many thoughts that cloud my vision and continue swimming through my head.

Every time I travel alone, this bubble of excitement and nervousness builds up inside, and the new adventure is the creamy ice cream and the impact it leaves behind is always the cherry on top. Being on your own in a place that’s completely new or unfamiliar to you can be a little daunting for the first time,  but if you accept the adventure head on, it can be the most liberating feeling in the world.  It’s like stage fright – a little scary, but when you get out there, you get a rush of nerves and excitement, but you know it’ll be more than okay – it’ll be incredible.  A moment that’ll forever shape who you are and forge a special place in your heart.

I hope you all find your own special adventure this weekend – a day that fills you with happiness and inspiration.

What activities spark inspiration for you or helps you feel refreshed? I’d love to hear! If you enjoyed this post, please comment below.

I absolutely love your outfit!! I also love to travel, whether we visit a far exotic place, or some new spot in California where we drive by car, it always feels like the ultimate freedom. I re-charge my battery when I travel as well! Xx Susanne –

I love reading about travel and how other people love it as well, I know you asked what makes me feel refreshed and this ties in to my favorite place on earth ( I actually did a post about it a while back) But Maui is my all time favorite place. Bills, adulting, crap just doesnt exist when I am there, I am at complete zen! I love it so much, I’ve been three times and this January I am actually trying out Kauai! Awesome blog, and way to kill it with the dress!

Sounds amazing Simone & Andre. Hawaii is on my list and funny enough, it’s cheaper to fly from Toronto than LA, so maybe when i go home for a visit, I’ll fly over!

Girl! Everyone has been killing my with these colorful vertical stripes lately! I can’t get over them and have no idea how I don’t own any yet! You look amazing beauty! And I’m right there with you on traveling but I have two under 3 right now which makes it virtually impossible! Have a wonderful day!

Love to travel alone too, it can’t really be described until experienced. It’s so weird, nervous but also rewarding and really makes you learn a lot about yourself! Perhaps a cliché, but so true! Xx

    • Reply miki August 27, 2016 at 8:46 am

I agree. Someone once said the same thing to me about sky diving. You can’t really describe it exactly but worth doing. 🙂

  • Reply Jenn August 19, 2016 at 5:04 am

First of all, gorgeous dress! Second, I was bitten by the travel bug too. There is always something to discover and experience when you travel and that is the exciting part. I have traveled alone only once and I would definitely want to do it again. It is a little daunting but when you overcome that phase you will see how refreshing, exciting and educational it can be. 🙂

Thanks! Ohh. I have be ever been to Nice. I also love Japan! Enjoy your trip! Can’t wait to see the pictures!

  • Reply Emily August 19, 2016 at 2:45 pm

Of course I love this post. Once you get bit, there’s no going back. I love that each time I travel, I too learn something new about myself. I wish I could live out my days traveling! But I am grateful for a lot of the things I’ve gotten to experience so far that I know a lot of people haven’t. I think the best part about traveling is picking where you’ll go and just planning the whole thing out. I could spend hours and hours planning a perfect vacation! 🙂

    • Reply miki August 27, 2016 at 9:06 am

Firstly, love the metaphor of ice cream. You know how much I love me my ice cream ;P
Secondly, love this post! It’s true that you learn about yourself over and over. My last travels was a Uni trip to China but that would’ve been about a year and a half ago now! I’m really keen to be going to NZ with my family then alone to Europe and America! Can’t wait for the lessons I learn, the ups and downs and all the people and places I’ll see! xx
