I’m back in paradise once again and I can’t believe how beautiful a place can be even after you’ve seen it many times. Tom and I are celebrating our wedding anniversary exactly where we got married in Punta Cana and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Watching the palm trees sway under the blue sky with the ocean waves in front of you is one I think everyone should experience, but a trip to the Caribbean is more than sunshine, beach and palm trees. There’s great music, wonderful people, delicious food and plenty of water excursions and activities to enjoy.
Beach workouts, water sports and snorkeling are usually the main activities I partake, and I’ve been incredibly fortunately enough to do them in the blue waters of Thailand, Bali, Maldives, Cuba and various destinations around the Caribbean. They’re always so much fun, and unfortunately even with sunblock, I’ve been sunburned on the back or shoulders more than once. When I was a child I would occasionally wear a tee over my swimsuit while playing in the water thinking it would protect me a little better from the sun, but the truth is, there was little to zero protection. Even if I didn’t see much of a tan under the shirt, I was still exposed to UV rays.
You guys know I love a good tan, but if I plan to be in the sun, I wear a bikini and apply sunblock every hour and a half, but it’s not practical when you go swimming for hours, go on excursions or plan to be on an adventure tour (like ziplining as we did in Costa Rica, or snorkeling and parasailing, as we have in Florida Keys, Thailand, Cuba, Bali or Maldives).
Now, there are so many stylish swimsuit and rash guard options that you can buy that include SPF and UVF protection, so while looking for one to buy for my niece during her trip to Florida a few months back, I discovered Cabana Life. I immediately fell in love with their collection of printed SPF & UVF 50 swimwear pieces that are so fitting for the pool, beach, as well as snorkeling and water sports. I found it so convenient that they had a great collection of rashguards and swimsuits for men and children too.
Since Tom and I stayed at an all-inclusive luxury resort, we constantly ate and drank, and needed to workout every day just to digest. The gym at our resort is enormous, with the latest equipement and all new equipment, but on one of those days, we took our workout to the beach. Our workout consisted of a run, high knees, planks, jacks and agility training. We both wore our rashguards for the beach work out. I love the print of mine and I couldn’t believe the fit of the men’s rashguard on Tom. He usually he needs custom shirts because he is not only tall, but he’s the average build of a football line backer, so things that are wide enough for his shoulders are not usually long enough for his arms, but not only is the quality amazing of the Cabana Life rash guard fantastic, but the fit is too. The stitching and design is luxurious and impeccable. We’re both so impressed.
The following day, we went on a long city excursion in our Slingshot (see epic vehicle on instagram here), so when we got back, all we wanted to do was sit in the lazy river. I was so excited to wear this unisuit. It’s my absolute favourite print in the collection and was so comfortable to wear. If you’re like me, you’ll appreciate the light padding. I ordered size S, but I’m a true XS in swimwear. It fit a little bit large, but still looked great on. Stick to your normal sizing when it comes to swimswear when shopping at Cabana Life. If it weren’t sold out, I would’ve loved the bikini too since I practicially live in them working by the pool throughout the week.
I’ve also linked this sweet dress I wore in the daytime for breakfast on resort by the beach as well. It’s the same material as the rash guard, has SPF 50 and is so pretty! Happy shopping!
Let me know which of these are your favorite in the comments below. Do you shop for swimsuits with SPF and UV production? Do you consciously think of SPF and UV protection for kids more than yourself, too?
