During my last couple of days of packing, Tom and I hopped into the car and drove to some of our favourite spots one last time in the city. When I first moved to Los Angeles, I would make my way up to Beverly Hills and order a Nutella latte and crêpe and sitting in the courtyard working away on my computer stealing glances at the fountain and people watch. It was a really nice treat between hours and hours of work.
It had actually been over 2 months since I stopped into the area for more than an hour, so I took my time strolling around and eventually started asking if I’d miss it, and of course I might – there isn’t anything like it in Orlando. It’s funny to reflect on life when it takes a big turn. You start asking yourself the deepest questions, including what you loved, what you didn’t, what you would improve and what you want to achieve.
I met some great people who made my experience in LA really special and wish I had gotten more time to get to know them. Then there are the exceptional individuals who really made life in in a new city extra special. People come into our lives for a reason, and when one door closes, another opens. Life is what you make of it. If you want it to be exciting, you can find a way to provide yourself with a multitude of experiences. When you want something that you can’t find, you have to create it because if you wait, it may never come and you’ll look back to say, you wish you did.
One thing I want to do is make my Orlando home feel extra special for when Tom and I are home, or when we welcome friends for a visit.
