If you would have told me that when I started blogging that I’d be partnering with one of my all-time favourite brands, CHANEL, I would’ve never in a million years believe you. I am so thrilled to be partnering with CHANEL to share an everyday classic daytime make up routine into the evening. CHANEL is so iconic, inspiring, bold, timeless, yet forward-thinking. It’s one of the reasons why I wore CHANEL beauty products for my engagement shoot and at my wedding. This make up routine is simple, and great for women on the go. If you’re like me, you wear your make up in just one or two ways almost all the time. I admit that when it comes to make up, I prefer a very classic look that either looks effortless, or bold, yet classy – and to that me means achieving a natural and glowy look, or creating a great smokey eye and a bold red lip. With holidays and travel, these products make perfect year-round classics that can be used every day, and in my opinion, are great for all skin tones.
Below is how you can take your day time natural face into a bolder look for the evening using just a few of my favourite select products from CHANEL.
Like every start to a great canvas, I cleanse my face, moisturize and then top off with a primer for my cheeks and eyes.
After priming areas of my face with larger pores, I line and fill my brows and then move onto eye shadow, which is the key to transforming a classic beauty look from day to night. For this look, I used the CHANEL Les 4 Ombres, Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow palette. It’s small and easily fits into a micro bag. When you travel a lot, or go from work to dinner as often as I do, a timeless, high quality palette that is versatile and travel-friendly is an absolute must-have item to include in your beauty bag. You can never go wrong with neutrals like nudes, greys and black, such as this one.
I start with the 2nd lightest color from the CHANEL Les 4 Ombres, Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow. I then layer with the 2nd darkest on the eyelid for depth. I personally like a slightly darker eyelid, so I blend just a touch of the darkest color to get a little more depth close to the lash line. Finally, use the lightest color on the palette to line the brow bone and the inner corners of my eyes.
I love full lashes without having to actually wear false lashes, and the best way to do that is with a great base to thicken the lash and a lengthening mascara, the CHANEL Beauté Des Cils, Nourishing Mascara Base and the CHANEL Le Volume De Chanel, Mascara together are a recipe for success! I curl the lashes, apply the base, wait a minute and then apply 2 coats of the mascara for full lashes.
DAY TO NIGHT
Taking your look from day to night is so easy with CHANEL Les 4 Ombres, Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow palette. Take the darkest shade on the palette and then smoke out the lid of the eye to create a more sultry look and blend in towards the brow line. After I apply the darkest shade, I actually use the 2nd lightest shade above the eyelid crease but below my brow highligher and I blend out the smokiness of the darkest shade. Everyone has their own way of doing it, but this works best for me.
Finally, using the tip of the eyeshadow brush, smoke out the bottom lash line. Then to really make your eyes pop, add an additional coat of mascara to your top lash line.
Like any look, you can choose to wear a bold red lip or gloss in the daytime. For me, I love to wearing a more natural effortless look in the daytime more frequently than a smokey eye and bold lip. As you had seen during fashion month (New York, London, Milan and Paris), red lipstick and a smokey eye was my staple beauty look to wear around the cities and for attending some runway shows.
NATURAL LIP SHINE
My usual effortless glow includes a light pink lipgloss and a softer smokey eye (seen in the above photo with pink lips). You can wear this look at night, but I love wearing pink lipgloss and this is my personal favourite. The CHANEL Rouge Coco Gloss, Moisturizing Glossimer adds just a little bit of shine and pulls out the rosiness from the cheeks.
BOLD & ICONIC RED LIPS
For a beautiful bold lip in an iconic red shade, I reach for the CHANEL Rouge Allure, Luminous Intense Lip Colour. It’s a fantastic classic color that I think works well on every skin tone. It has a warm red, which works for pale, dark and yellow skin tones (such as mine).
Is there anything more classic than a neutral or red nail colour? I know some of my friends prefer a light nude-pink nail color for work, while others love a great shade of red. With the hoildays well on its way, I went with the colour red. Of course, these are both modern classics you can wear into any season, since they’ll never go out of style. Some prefer a light pink or nude, so this one is a great shade CHANEL Le Vernis, Longwear Nail Colour in Ballerina. The one I am wearing is an iconic red shade called the CHANEL Le Vernis, Longwear Nail Colour in Pirate.
