Being Canadian, I’ve been prepared for the cold weather since September. I can honestly say that I miss taking a breath of cold, frosty air into my lungs. When you hold that fresh hot cocoa and catch the scent of cinnamon and apple cider wafting through the air as you settle next to a warm fireplace, you know you’re deep into the Fall and Winter season. Curling up to something warm and fuzzy has never felt more comforting. Although I can’t promise day after day seated in an inviting space with a cozy nook stacked with fluffy cushions, faux fur rugs and soft fleece throw, I am happy to provide you with a bunch of comfortable and stylish knits, jumpers/sweaters that will carry you through the cold season.
Fall and Winter are when we all start to cover up. Wrapping up in the comfort of a thick knit can make you feel femnine and stylish rather than thick and heavy. If you get tired more easily as I do when there is less sunlight, wearing bright colors are a great way to add back some bounce to your step. There are so many fantastic pieces to add to the wardrobe this season that you can find fashionable pieces that work for you.
Key trends this season include embroidery, lace up detail, statement sleeves, off the shoulder, sportswear and of course the color hot pink and blush pink seems to keep resurfacing for Fall.
How to Wear Various Types of Sweaters
For a weekend or everyday look with warm to cool temperatures, pair a sweater with (faux) leather skirt or pants and add some adorable booties. Sportswear inspired knits are great with athletic pants and sneakers or boots. If it’s already cold where you are, add a wool coat, skip the skirt and go straight for the leggings or sportswear inspired pants.
Below are a selection of 20 must-have knits and sweaters to add to the warddrobe this season, most under $100. I can’t seem to find the hot pink one that I am wearing, but the grey one is available (1st row, 1st from the right).
