Top Winter Coat Trends to Buy Into

December 9, 2020

The weather has finally dipped and it’s time to pull out your cozy outerwear. Today, I’m sharing top winter coat trends for the season, and where you can get your hands on them.

Long Belted Coat

This is a classic, and never goes out of style. It’s elegant, minimalistic and goes right over a sweater dress, trousers, leather skirt, and pairs well with a variety of boots, even sneakers. Dress a long wool coat up or down. It’s a great investment piece, if you don’t have it already.

Quilted Jacket

The quilted has been a big trend. With Daniel Lee reviving Bottega Veneta with the padded cassette, and many other luxury brands designing various quilted pieces, including skirts, trousers and jackets, you can’t deny that it’s a cozy looking trend that’s worth adopting for the winter. I’ve styled mine with my Prada Monolith Boots here, and again with my Paris Texas zebra printed boots.

Padded Down Jacket

If you live anywhere that dips down below freezing temperatures, chances are you own a down jacket. As a Canadian, I’ve had at least one in my closet my entire life. After moving from LA back to where there are 4 seasons, I’ve added a few more. You all know I love TATRAS outerwear. Their Japanese-designed, Italian-made pieces make their outerwear incredibly stylish and long-lasting, so you’ll wear them over and over again. This one has a soft brushed exterior and feels as though you’re huddled up to a cozy comforter. I’ve styled mine with an all-black look and a white bag to tie in this incredibly cozy coat. I also have my eye on a few more and have linked some great options below.

Faux Fur Coat

Faux fur has been an ongoing trend. People have stepped away from real fur and animal products to engineered ones. This doesn’t mean you need to create more waste by throwing away your old fur, but if you’re looking to buy new, you’ll find plenty of incredible options that now can keep you as warm as the real thing.

Teddy Coat

When Max Mara presented their FW19 show, everyone fell in love with the teddy coat. In fact, I fell in love with many pieces, and Max Mara is one of the kings of designing outerwear. The teddy coat feels so cozy, it’ll stand the test of time.

I still have my eyes on the Prada padded jacket, and Miu Miu one.

Let me know which winter outerwear trend you love the most and will buy into below.
