Paris always fills me with so much excitement, nerves and inspiration. I always think it’ll feel the same, and that is never the case. For Fall/Winter 2020, I count myself lucky to be able to return to see Rahul Mishra’s collection.
The Rahul Mishra’s SS18 runway show that I’d ever attended was so memorable. This season, the designer did his FW20 collection reveal with a presentation. There are significant advantages to having a presentation and designers like Rahul Mishra thrive in this environment. Mishra is incredibly meticulous. His work is not only detailed, often taking hundreds of hours to make, but his artisans often implement new techniques. The opportunity to discuss his inspiration and to see the collection through his eyes with him at a showroom or presentation like this is an advantageous one.
Rahul Mishra’s inspiration board tacked onto the wall upon entry. Pivoted around the visuals of a glorious night sky; the collection is an Easy-to-Wear diversification of his couture work. Mishra uses like midnight blue, charcoal gray, sapphire, azure and mauve come alive through sequins, beads, silken threads on wearable and versatile fabrics like lightweight felt, crepe and organza. Mishra’s approach is never about trends, but of evolution in his work for the sophisticated woman. This collection includes pieces that are easy to maintain and a size friendly range.
There is a great “ease” in which you could throw any of these pieces on and be on your way to an event or evening. Below, you’ll find pieces from the FW20 Paris Fashion Week Presentation.
