As we enter the new normal, the excitement is building up as we dream of, and experience special events where sequins, glitter and glam comes front and centre again, and couture gowns grace the red carpets.

Iris van Herpen
Iris Van Herpen collaborated with a French female world-champion skydiver – the first athlete to wear couture during an aerial performance. Van Herpen pushed the boundaries when combining fashion and science, incorporating 3-D printing, and balancing delicacy, movement, femininity and technology. Every single look was impactful and increadibly dreamy.
Schiaparelli
This season, Daniel Roseberry really focused on designs that really enhance the body form. Breast plates, sculpted abs, exaggerated hips, voluminous shapes, cinched waists and plenty of metallics can be seen in this Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2021 collection.

Valentino Garavani
There were 84 looks in the collection by Pierpaolo Piccioli, ranging from short, leg-baring looks, to full length detailed gowns; many of which were in collaboration of various artists. The oversized ostrict hats were breathtaking and mesmorizing, and danced along the runway as the models moved. Every piece was incredibly elegant, and multiple looks taking as many as 600 to 700 hours to complete. Needless to say, all that work paid off. That runway show was nothing short of sublime.

Elie Saab
As you may recall, I fell in love with Haute Couture when I watched my first Elie Saab’s Spring/Summer 2005 runway show. For this collection, Elie Saab takes inspiration from current times quite literally, coming out the pandemic; from darkness to light. The detailed work is stunning and showcases a lot of lace, and hand-sewn florals.
Balenciaga
This collection really merged the designs of the house of Cristobal Balenciaga and Demna Gvasalia own. What I love about Gvasalia is that his designs for the house are incredibly loud while feeling simplistic at the same time. His signature streetwear style incoporated into the aesthetic and comes out powerfully architectural. Exaggerated lengths and proportions bring a modern elegance to these designs.
Rahul Mishra
Taking inspiration from the his trip to Santorini with his family before the pandemic. The bright hues orange and red dress are reminiscent of the stunning sunsets. And the blue sparkling dress are of the reflection of the light from the blue water. When thinking of how to turn air into a dress, Mishra created the dress that looked almost weightless.
Fendi
The classic ballroom gowns, laser cut details, and full feathered dresses are eye-catching, and Kim Jones shows he’s well-studied and has an impeccable understanding of Haute Couture. The textures and backdrop were inspired by the city of Rome. The mosaic tilework remind us of the grounds of historical sites in the city,

Feminine, structural, floral and elegant is how I’d describe Alexis Mabille’s Haute Couture collection. It’s easy to be swept away by the full tulle skirts, structural bodices and petal detailing of the sleeves. They all make for art that translates so beautifully on the body. His collection celebrates the renaissance era, and a joyful life after a period of darkness.
Alexandre Vauthier
The collection is monochromatic, yet very dramatic. Alexandre Vauthier plays with volume and balances the collection with stunning tailored pieces as well. There isn’t a piece you won’t love. Below you’ll see a stunning feminine and flowy dress and a beautifully crystal embellished piece.
Antonio Grimaldi
Antonio Grimaldi stuns with selection of high-low dresses, extra long trains and delicate feathered detail. The silhouettes are inspired by the 80’s with colours referencing the Aurora Borealis, ranging from hues of whites, blues, all the way to black.
