Paraiso Miami Swim Week Spring Summer 2022 SS22

July 14, 2021

For a year, it felt like the entire world hit the pause button, and none of us really knew when in-person events and runway shows would happen again. In May, Paraiso announced the return of Miami Swim Week, and there was an immediate air of excitement among fashion, swimwear, resort and beach lovers.

Designers were lined up and ready to show their latest collections and the people flew in around the globe to experience and celebrate the re-opening of Paraiso Swim Week Miami.

Today, I’m sharing a round up of some of the designer highlights, as well as some favourite looks that walked down the runway.

Destination: Colombia

A runway show presenting 10 Columbian swimwear designers you need to know for Spring/Summer 2022.

Destination Colombia designers include Q Swim, Palmacea, Naranja Furcado, Ancora, Bahama Mama, Smeralda, Mar De Lua, & Mola Mola. Bold colors, wavy patterns, detailed hand stitch work, and flowy forms grace the PARAISO Tent for the return of this iconic show. There is a visible air of vintage swimwear silhouettes with very contemporary patterns and lines coming out of Colombia for the 2022 season.

Liliana Montoya

The designers released two new swim collections with over 30 pieces dropping for the 2022 season, making their official debut on the PARAISO Miami Beach stage, fiercely closing off the day’s festivities. The first of which, GAIA, is a curated collection for the conscious soul & heart inspired by the Goddess of Earth.

The second, #FollowYourHeart, is the designer’s statement collection, fusing her passions for the fashion industry and her Colombian roots. It highlights her signature detail, the gold-touched heart ornament, applied by hand in every garment.

The meticulously handmade garments are thread by hand by skilled craftswomen in Colombia – Antioquia & Amazonas. Some of the garments have accessories woven with fibers representing their ancestral culture and connection with the natural environment. Liliana Montoya donates 10% of net proceeds from the collection’s magnificent line of bracelets & anklets to the charity she created for her namesake label, #FollowYourHeart.

They are highly motivated to be part of the environmental solution, with 80% of their garments made of 100% plastic bottles and recycled fabrics.

Pronounced “Be Fine” designer Buki Ade dropped one of the stunning resort and Swimwear collections of the week.

The SS22 collection includes stunning ethnic prints, gold embellishments and chunky statement jewelry, each piece was beautifully styled to perfection and elevated each swim and resort wear piece that came down the runway.

Simonett

Simonett presented a wildly bold interpretation of both swim and resort wear, many pieces even ready-to-wear perfection. Most iconic was the use of leather in so many of her pieces. From the lines, forms, scale, and color blocking, Simonett delivered a truly artful Spring 2022 collection with range of pieces from swim to resort to leather.

Simonett curated their Futural Resist show featuring see now buy now collections from their newest designers including Behen Studio, Lado Bokuchava, LEO, Tigra Tigra, and Sinobi.
