Nordik Spa Ottawa

Nordik Spa Nature Ottawa Spa Resort

Every time I smell lavender or eucalyptus, I immediately think of the spa. We all love a good massage, but even more, great services, feeling spoiled and getting that deep level of relaxation that you crave for and dream about, especially when you are feeling incredibly exhausted. Back when I lived in Canada, Tom and I would be at the gym about 5-6 days a week. We’d both get a ton of knots from working out and from long hours at the desk, and there’s nothing like taking a weekend trip to a resort spa to spend an entire day of unwinding, eating and treating oneself. Today, I thought I’d take you back to one my favourite resort spas in Canada, the Nordik Spa, Ottawa.

The Nordik Spa-Nature in Ottawa is as multi-time award winning resort spa. As a person who loved going to onsen (hot springs) when living in Japan, water therapies are perks that I take advantage of at resort spas, where possible. With 7 hot and cold thermal baths, you can hop into one and into the other to trigger better blood flow.

Massage Experience: If you like deep tissue or deep pressure massage, then they do a good job of that here. You can request male or female. I really love the sports massages I get here every time I visit. If you’re Canadian, you can get a receipt for your medical benefits and robes are provided. Bring your own slippers, or buy the ones on site.

Saunas, Water Therapies & Experience: You will never be short of different types of saunas or thermal pools here. You can spend the entire day relaxing in any of the 8 saunas set at different temperatures. Some are small and fit 4 people, others could fit about 15 or more. All offer silence and solitude (except one, where you can freely chat and socialize). There is a Yoga Room, Relaxation Room, Exfoliation Room and much more.

Food: There’s a little restaurant on the grounds if you get hungry. Pre-load your bracelet with any dollar value you want to cap at, and whatever you don’t use gets returned back to you, so you don’t have to carry any cash or cards while you’re spending the day there. The food is pretty good and well priced. From what I recall, they have a fix prix menu of $35 for a 3 course meal, but I indulged in wine and various appetizers instead.

I always want to stay at this peaceful nature retreat for more than a day. I recommend spending the entire day treating yourself to all that the resort has to offer. The baths and saunas are really lovely, the food is enjoyable and the massage therapists have always been very good for us here.

There are a few others that I have been to in Canada, but Nordik Spa has been a consistent favourite of mine. There are a few locations across Canada, so I can’t wait to see how the Nordik Spa is on the west coast when I finally visit.  Have you been to a resort spa? If so, what’s your favourite resort spa? I’d love to hear in the comments below!
